  3. Trip to South Africa On this trip, you will experience the impact of poverty and Aids in South Africa by working in a school, painting and decorating classrooms and teaching the pupils. After the project, you will go on safari. Over the year, as a Sixth Form we need to raise £15,000 to donate to the project.

  4. New school day! All of Year 12 and 13 are required to register at 8.30 everyday: • If you are absent because of illness or emergency you need to call or text Nina Moore on 07775 420468 before 08.30 • For all other absences you must fill in an absence request form 2 days in advance, e.g. job interview, holiday request. For a list of acceptable absences see Attendance board. • If you don’t you will be marked absent. If you fall underneath 92% attendance I am sent an email telling me you are on my hit list! • Year 13 have to do the same • Anyone that has not phoned in and has not registered by 08.50 will receive a phone call to their mobile and to their home asking where they are

  5. New school day! All of Year 12 and 13 are required to register at 8.30 everyday: • Use of Form time to be directed and a key part of the 6th form induction process • Clear and consistent expectations, reinforced across the 6th form • Form teacher responsible for monitoring of DATA and attendance as per KS3-4 • Silent and supervised study in the library when students are not in lessons • This will start Wednesday 14th of September

Minimum Target grades • Minimum Target grades last year were based on GCSE results and were set at the 50th percentile using ALPS A Level targets. • This year we are using target grades based on GCSE results to be set at the 75th percentile using ALPS A Level targets. • We are saying that our students will be in the top 25% of students to progress nationally from KS4 to KS5. • In recent years we have been in the top 1% NATIONALLY at KS4. • It will be difficult but you can do it!!!

When things go right… • Lunch at Subway – the top 20 students with the most points collected in one half term. • Race to Paris – the top 20 students with the most points at the end of the year will win a day trip to Paris. • Letters of commendation from subject staff – 2 per subject every fortnight. • Points can be accumulated through good attendance, academic achievement and effort and contribution to sixth form life and will be published every week on the sixth form notice board.

Sixth Form Attendance • Contact Nina (NMO) as soon as possible of non-attendance on Nina.moore@feltham.hounslow.sch.uk or 07775 4200468 or extension 3016. • From September: • Students will have to apply in advance for leave of absence e.g. doctors, job interviews, open days etc. • Students will be expected to notify NMO of unforeseen absences e.g. illness • Attendance will be monitored by NMO.

  12. The Duvet Day Pass • If a student’s attendance is consistently above 95% for 3 weeks a “Duvet Day” pass may be issued by the Sixth Form Learning and Study Manager. • Duvet Day = One day where they do not have to come in until break time (1030), however they MUST attend all scheduled subject lessons (not including Private Study). • 2 passes per half term. Valid from the second half of the Autumn term and invalid during exam season.

  13. Academic Intervention • Friday 21st Sept, 2 weeks into term – students will have handed in one piece of work. Students who do not meet this deadline will be reported to NMO. • Academic Support Sessions • Wednesday 3pm – 5pm in the library run by NMO. • For students who have failed to hand in 2 pieces of work despite teacher intervention • Attendance is compulsory. Parents will be notified. • Friday – teachers to complete simple spreadsheet in shared area indicating which students need to attend. NMO will follow up • Academic Board • Monthly meetings for students causing concern across the board. JLO, NMO, student and subject teachers. • Staff will be asked for causes for concern • BTEC Tracking • Tracking sheets for students to be accessible to NMO. • Please place on shared drive and email Nina to indicate where.

  15. There is no such thing as failure… If a student starts with a belief system that stresses what they can’t do they will only tap into a small part of their potential Lack of belief Poor results Low expectations Lack of positive action

Our promises to you… • We will (except when we are teaching or in a meeting!) always be available to help you • We as a school promise that our teaching will be well planned and help you reach your target grades • We as a school promise that we will give the opportunity to develop outside the classroom (eg. Work experience, career tasters, trips, sports, mentoring) • We will help you with your next step (university or jobs)
