  3. Monera Kingdom • Single-celled organisms that do not have a nucleus. • Members of this kingdom are bacteria • There are more bacteria than any other type of organism.

  4. Protista Kingdom • Includes single-celled and some multi-celled organisms with a nucleus. • Amoeba, and giant sea kelp (an algae) belong to this kingdom.

  5. Fungi Kingdom • Fungi are a group of multi-cellular, non-motile (do not move) organisms. • The type of organisms include molds, yeasts, mildews, and mushrooms. • Fungi derive their nutrients by absorption from dead and decaying organic materials.

  6. Plantae Kingdom • Includes multi-cellular, and non-motile (do not move) living things. • The type of organisms included in this kingdom are mosses, ferns, flowering and non-flowering plants. • Plants make their own food through photosynthesis. • Two phyla of plants: • Vascular • Have roots • Grow their seeds inside a flower or fruit. • Includes most trees, shrubs, vines, flowers, fruits, vegetables, and legumes. • Non-Vascular • Are found growing on the ground, on rocks, and on other plants. • Have no true roots or leaves

  7. Animalia Kingdom • A group of multi-cellular and motile living things. • They cannot synthesize food and receive nutrition is by ingesting food. • Members are broken into two phyla: • Vertebrates • Have a backbone • Invertebrates • Do not have a backbone
