Standing Committees There was no SC WNG meeting SC Maintenance: • SCMan had one meeting with objectives: • review three submissions • consider any other business: • email submission indicating an error in a security clause of IEEE 802.15.4-2011 • Question from ETSI TG28 on IEEE 802.15.4e information element ID assignments Pat Kinney, Kinney Consulting LLC

SC Maintenance • Attendees recommend the following submissions to accepted and be considered during the next revision of 802.15.4. • Document's title: 802.15.4g-2012 • Issue, concern, or question: • The references in all blocks of various figures, including Figure 117 and Figure 132 are wrong, should be to Clause 18 not 16 • We define a SUN device as item FD8, but then later we reference it as FD6, for example in Tables D.2a and Table D.3 where we list mandatory items for this device, also in D.5 and D.6. SC Maintenance • Attendees recommend the following submission to accepted and be considered during the next corrigendum or revision of 802.15.4. • Document's title: IEEE 802.15.4-2011 • Issue, concern, or question:Clause7.2.3 • "Incoming frame security procedure". If we assume the procedure is done from the step a) to the step r) in order, unsecured frame cannot be accepted. The steps e), f) and g) are not for the unsecured frame but for the secured frame. The specification is described so that the step i) for the unsecure frame is done after these steps. Looking the specification 802.15.4-2006the step correspond to the step i) was done before the steps correspond to steps e, f and g. Pat Kinney, Kinney Consulting LLC

SC Maintenance • Request from ETSI TG28 to allow for payload information elements that are relevant to Europe • Consensus was to change unmanaged information element (IE) identification (ID) namespace to allow IEEE RAC assignment of Payload IE IDs for SDOs, et al • Consensus was to draft a Corrigendum PAR for approval at the 802.15 mid-week plenary for EC consideration on Friday Pat Kinney, Kinney Consulting LLC

  7. IEEE 802.15.4 Corrigendum PAR • 5.2.a. Scope of the complete standard: This standard defines the physical layer (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) sublayer specifications for low-data-rate wireless connectivity with fixed, portable, and moving devices with no battery or very limited battery consumption requirements typically operating in the personal operating space (POS) of 10 m. • Physical layers (PHYs) are defined for • Devices operating in the license-free 868-868.6 MHz, 902-928 MHz, and 2400-2483.5 MHz bands • Devices with precision ranging, extended range, and enhanced robustness and mobility • Devices operating according the Chinese regulations, Radio Management of P. R. of China doc. #6326360786867187500 or current document, for one or more of the 314-316 MHz, 430-434 MHz, and 779-787 MHz frequency bands • Devices operating in the 950-956 MHz allocation in Japan and coexisting with passive tag systems in the band • 5.2.b. Scope of the Proposed changes: This corrigendum corrects errors that have been found in IEEE Std 802.15.4-2011 and published amendments. • 5.3 Is the completion of this standard dependent upon the completion of another standard: No Pat Kinney, Kinney Consulting LLC

IEEE 802.15.4 Corrigendum PAR • 5.4 Purpose: The standard provides for ultra low complexity, ultra low cost, ultra low power consumption, and low data rate wireless connectivity among inexpensive devices. The raw data rate is high enough (250 kb/s) to satisfy a set of applications but is also scalable down to the needs of sensor and automation needs (20 kb/s or below) for wireless communications. • In addition, one of the alternate PHYs provides precision ranging capability that is accurate to one meter. • Multiple PHYs are defined to support a variety of frequency bands including: • 868-868.6 MHz • 902-928 MHz • 2400-2483.5 MHz • 314-316 MHz, • 430-434 MHz, and 779-787 MHz band for LR-WPAN systems in China • 950-956 MHz in Japan • 5.5 Need for the Project: The 802.15.4 maintenance standing committee has identified a few errors in IEEE Std. 802.15.4g-2012 and IEEE Std. 802.15.4e-2012.
