Visible Light Communication is a line-of-sight communication technology where light in the visible spectrum (400THz-800THz) is used as a medium for data transmission. The phenomenal growth in internet data usage resulted in congestion of RF band available for the conventional wireless technologies like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Wi-max etc. This compelled the network providers to turn to VLC technology which uses license free spectrum and is more secure as compared to other wireless technologies.
