What Are Electronic Devices? • Devices which use science and technology to fulfill a wide variety of tasks. • Everywhere you go, you will come across many different types of devices. • They can be used for many different things including to help maintain safety, increase efficiency and simplicity. • Examples include computers, cell phones, cameras, etc.

  3. How Do They Help I.C? • Electronic devices can help Internal Control for businesses in several different ways. • Help protect assets. • Manage assets. • Control operations. • Transfer and view files faster.

  4. How Do They Help I.C? • Electronic anti-theft systems are used to prevent and or identify thieves. • They can reduce the amount of theft by as much as 50% or more. • Computers produce accurate records, enhance operational efficiency, and allow easier management of assets than hard records.

  5. Examples Security Tags • Devices that are attached to products like clothing. • They are taken off only when the item has been paid for. • Each contain tiny fragments that have a unique number called “SIN” which is registered in a national police database. • Many popular businesses use these such as Sears, The Bay, H&M, Wal-Mart…

  6. Examples Surveillance Cameras • They are located throughout the company/store. • Monitor and observe all activity in the store. • Cameras are used in a countless number of stores for asset protection. • If a problem occurs, it can be reviewed on the camera.

Examples Computers & Storage Devices • Computers are very important when it comes to business management. • Accounting systems rely less on physical documents, and more on digital storage devices. • Software's organize, record and keep everything in one place rather than having all your records in different books and places. (Efficiency and accuracy) • Ex: Sage One, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting, etc.
