  4. COMMON ISSUES TO POOR LIFTING PRACTICES • Placed in job without receiving training • Numerous employees receive classroom training, ONLY! • No training provided on lifting equipment and/or no lifting training is provided • Equipment defective • Beds cranks defective • DO NOT HAVE TIME!

  5. WHAT CAN WE DO? • Address Healthcare Ergonomics • Fit the job to the worker • ID risk factors & discuss with Policyholder • ID appropriate equipment for the Policyholder • Next step is to minimize risks through… Work Practice Controls Or Administrative Controls

  6. WORKPLACE CONTROLS • Plan work • Get help • Eliminate unnecessary movements • Use neutral or good body postures • Don’t allow use of broken equipment • Use good housekeeping practices • Use adjustments on equipment
