RBFS Road Traffic Collisions (2009) • Total RTC’s attended – 532 • RTC 1 Pump attendance for wash down/make safe - 194 • Total RTC’s reported as Persons Trapped - 338 • Rescue Support Vehicle returned before arrival 250 (74%) • RTC person trapped – 102 (30%) • More than one person trapped 18 (5.3%) • Fatalities (at scene) - 7 • Average number of vehicles involved - 2

Impact on Availability for Other Incidents • W/T Pumps operationally deployed 5.2% of the available time (averaged across all W/T appliances) • Retained Pumps operationally deployed 1.5% of the available time (averaged across all Ret appliances) • Newbury’s RSV operationally committed 1.5% of the available time (139 hours) • Slough’s RSV operationally committed 1.9% of the available time(167 hours) • (includes time driving to all 250 incidents from which the RSV’s were retuned before arrival)

FBU Response to Consultation • 10 Page response received from FBU (copied to members) to a two page draft policy • Some points highlighted drafting errors in draft policy that will be addressed in final version • Detailed response to the FBU in draft final version to be issued next week (copied to members) together with amended policy document and risk assessment
