  2. Background Information His name is Sitting Bull because he killed a buffalo when he was ten .His tribe is the Sioux tribe . He was born in 1831.He died in 1898.

  3. Early Life • He was named Hunkeshnee a Sioux word that means slow . He won his first battle honor when he was fourteen.

  4. Later Life • After the particularly harsh winter of 1881 ,Sitting Bull and those of his group who were still with him finally gave themselves up to the American army.

  5. Interesting Information His name was slow as a boy. He was a member of a Strong Heart Society.
