    1. Vulcan pulp and paper chemicals A sales and service oriented specialty chemicals business focused on the North American pulp and paper industry. Net sales USD 80 million. Price of the deal USD 44 million. The number of personnel will increase by appr. 200 people. The deal includes two production plants in USA (Columbus, GA and Shreveport, LA) and one in Canada (Vancouver, BC). The product lines manufactured include emulsion polymers, defoamers, wet and dry strength resins and custom manufactured products.

    3. Market opportunities The acquisition will reinforce Kemira’s position as one of the top three in paper chemicals in North America. The combination of the acquired business with our present North American business strengthens our resources and brings new technologies to our customers globally. We will have a broader geographical coverage in sales and increased resources in service and R&D. Customers getting greater flexibility in sourcing chemicals and increase Kemira’s ability to act as a sole supplier. Product range expanded by emulsion polymers, wet and dry strength resins and tissue applications broaden.
