  7. Connections • The following connections classes are offered at HJMS: • Spanish • Art • Math Connections • Keyboarding/Computer • Home Economics • Chorus/Music • Band • PE

  8. Spanish • Spanish is only offered for a semester for 6th graders. • If you take Spanish in both 7th and 8th grade, you will receive high school credit for 1 year of a foreign language. • You must score an 850 or higher in Reading/ELA on the Georgia Milestones test in order to qualify for 7th grade Spanish.

  9. Chorus and Band • Chorus and Band are the only connections classes you can request. • If you are interested in band, you must take it at the beginning of 6th grade. If you did not take band in 6th grade, you cannot take it in 7th or 8th grade. • Both, Chorus and Band, are year long classes.

  10. All other connections classes • You will rotate your connections classes throughout your 3 years in middle school (except band, chorus, or Spanish). • For example, if you wanted Art and didn’t get it this semester, don’t worry!! You will have an opportunity to take Art before you leave middle school.
