  6. How and when decisions are made about which course a girl will be taking Majority: • ENGLISH LANGUAGE& LITERATURE A small number of girls • ENGLISH

  7. GCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE = 2 GCSE QUALIFICATIONS GCSE ENGLISH = 1 GCSE QUALIFICATION

  8. LITERATURE Assessed 30% Controlled Assessment 70% External Assessment = 2 exams

  9. ENGLISH AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE • Assessed • 40% Controlled Assessment • 60% External Assessment = 1 exam

  10. Work towards the qualification starts immediately with both courses Students are aware of the controlled assessments they are taking each term. The Complete Programme of Study is available on the school website.

  11. All students will take the following; • Unit 1: Understanding and Producing Non Fiction Texts External Examination 60% of total GCSE, 2 hours 30 min, 80 marks • Section A: Reading (30 minutes allowed for reading the materials) 1 hour, 40 marks • Section B: Writing 1 hour, 40 marks (2 tasks)
