The First International Symposium on INVITATION PROGRAM Innovative Civil & ArchitecturalEngineering Paiknam Academy House Lecture Hall 3F In Oct. 2003, faculty delegates from Hanyang University (HYU), have visited the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) and Tsinghua University (TU), and have familiarized between institutions. Three Institutions have agreed to exchange academic interests among faculty level in the beginning and expand into the other areas such as studentexchange, joint lecture, etc. We are pleased to launch the First International Symposium on the Innovative Civil and Architectural Engineering at Hanyang University and the subsequent venue can be changed into different institution each year. By virtue of positive supports and cooperation, more than 20 Professors from Harbin Inst. of Tech., Tsinghua Univ. and Hanyang Univ have submitted papers and will present the papers. In this symposium, important state-of-art the papers are scheduled to be presented in the fields of civil and architectural engineering such as structural engineering, non-destructive test, health monitoring, building environmental science, transportationtechnology, etc. Based on this initial symposium, we hope that this symposium will be expanded to the wide spectrum of inter-related disciplines and more faculty members. Through this symposium, we hope that each faculty member will familiarize, understand, and cooperate one another to develop mutual enhancement.
