  2. Whatis Menopause ? Menopause is identified as that phase of a woman’s life where the periods have disappeared for more than a year. And it follows that women are free from birth control precautions as they step out of the pregnancy zone. Here are some facts associated with pregnancy after menopause.

  3. Best Age for Pregnancy It is in the twenties, the stats are on their peak for getting pregnant. As a healthy fertile woman in mid-twenties, there is approximately 33 percent chance of getting pregnant each cycle. The prerequisite for this is that you have sex a day or two before ovulation. When you reach the age of 30, your chances are reduced by about 20 percent each cycle.

  4. Some facts about Menopause Though it appears that menopause happens suddenly, yet the process of menopause may take few years to complete. The activity of the hormones that trigger ovulation and pregnancy in the body become weaker. The level of hormones – estrogen and progesterone drop considerably. This has a deep impact on one’s ability to get pregnant. It may take anywhere from five to ten years for the process of menopause to complete. During the menopausal stage of one’s life, a woman still has the prospect of getting pregnant. The typical age of menopause is around 45 years. Some of the menopausal symptoms are hot flashes, night sweats or skipped periods for a few months, only to have them disappear gradually.

  5. What changes occur in body related to pregnancy after menopause? When a woman has already reached menopause i.e. she’s not having her periods for more than a year, the body stops producing eggs. This concludes that when there are no eggs produced, there is no possibility of a woman getting pregnant naturally. Surprisingly, the rest of the reproductive system is still functional.

  6. The changing phase of ‘Perimenopause’ Perimenopause is the time of transition. During this phase, your ovaries start producing lesser quantity of hormones – estrogen and progesterone. The ovaries become less responsive to LH ( luteinizing hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and their levels start rising. During this perimenopausal phase, the ovaries are still able to release eggs; but they may release eggs in some months and not in others. Yet, if the egg is fertilized, LH stimulates progesterone production to maintain the pregnancy. There is no clear line to mark the completion of menopause cycle. This period may stretch up to 10 years. This makes it possible for a woman to get pregnant when she feels she has already reached menopause.

  7. Does something like menopausal pregnancy exist? Medical science has been pushing the age barrier for safe pregnancy. The technology shifted the statement related to safe age of pregnancy from under 40 to 50 plus. And the doctors are still on it to keep it safe and yet push the boundaries farther. Since postmenopausal pregnancy may face its complications, it will require much more close monitoring and complete healthcare to pass all the phases of pregnancy successfully.
