A Late Spring in the West. Sherann & Bruce June & July 2004. Mt. Shasta had a lot of snow for this time of year. Looking back towards Seattle and the Puget Sound from Mt Vernon. An old moss covered fence in the foothills of the Cascade mountains.

  7. Mt Joseph in Oregon was a highlight of the trip.

  16. It is so hot on the range that the deer have to stand in water to keep their hoofs from burning - the antelope, of course, just keep on playing.

  20. Life in the west is dry, hard, hot and harsh, but this Juniper tree is still alive (note needles on the left side).

  22. The new truck worked great for crushing wild flowers and tormenting the environment.

  23. Awesome colors in the volcanic rock at Mt Lassen National Park.

  24. On the down side, we were caught in the snow with dime sized hail on the top of Mt. Lassen -- YIKES!

  25. After the storm, the pine flowers were happy.

  26. Every thing was well soaked -- no forest fire today.

  27. Even the pine cones were cool after the storm.

  28. Fresh snow on Lassen as we drove south into the Sierra Nevada foothills.

  29. Weird islands in the middle of nowhere.

  31. Headwaters of the Yuba river high in the Sierras. It was a good year for the fire bush down by the river's edge.

  32. A Sierra mountain sunset, looking across the central valley of California towards the Pacific ocean and home.
