  1. SPOT! Fetch Light Interactive navigable 3D visualization of direct sunlight Sébastien Bund & Ellen Y.Do Design Machine Group (DMG)– University of Washington Centre de Recherche en Architecture et Ingénieurie (CRAI)

  2. Considering direct sunlight within buildings • Direct sunlight – a multidimensional phenomenon • Related work • SPOT- Time Projection - Navigable animation - Demo • Implementation • Future work

  3. 1- Why to consider direct sunlight in buildings ? Benefits of the sun : ENERGY SAVING: >Artificial lighting = 25 % of the electric energy >"efficient daylight = energy saving (by 30-60% )“ PRODUCTIVITY: >Students : learn faster, test higher. sales increase an average of 40% HEALTH: Alleviates: stress, anxiety, depression, migraines, sleep disorders, immune system function, cholesterol levels, increases calcium utilization, visual acuity, Cardiac outputs .

  4. 1- An appropriate building shape for : • Using sun energy and • avoiding overheating • Avoiding Glare • Over Shading control
