  2. Stewardship • Outcomes: • All must know the Christian and another religious view on the environment • Most should use technical language to describe it • Some could use passages from Holy books to argue about religion and the environment

Stewardship • Recap and Big picture: • Last week we talked about keywords and we categorise the problems: pollution, resources, use of resources. • Homework is about this lesson and then we are going to talk about transplant • Skills: enquirer • AT1: value each religious voice (rational) about topics like the environment

  4. Stewardship • What do you think about this quote on the underground in London: • “If you feed meat to your children you turn them into murderers”

  5. Free four keywords: • Creation • Stewardship • Environment • Conservation • Discuss with your neighbor and tick the words you know double tick those you can explain

  6. Creation: the act of creating the universe, or the universe that has been created. • Stewardship: Looking after something so that it can be passed on to the next generation. • Environment: The surroundings in which plants and animals live and on which they depend to continue living. • Conservation: Protecting and preserving natural resources and the environment.

  7. Pictures on the laptop safe • Choose your pictures wisely! • Discuss your choice on a table • What does it tell you about Christianity and the environment

  8. Christians believe that the world was created by God and that God made Humans to look after the world as stewards. This means they should leave the world a better place than they found it Christians believe that because: • The bible teaches that God created the word and that all of God’s creation should be respected. • The teachings of Jesus, Especially the Parable of the Talents, say that Christians should leave the world better than they found it • Jesus taught that Christians should share the good things of the earth

  9. Other reasons: • Christians believe that humans have been placed in control of the world by God and that the resources of the world have been created by God for Humans to use. • Therefore Christians must respect and care for the environment though environmental concerns should not hurt human beings.

  10. Stewardship • Now choose one religion below and stick the necessary paper into your book: • Hinduism • Islam • Judaism

  11. Read the paper and answer the following question at the back of your book • 1/ “The Christian view on environment is the strictest of all” Do you agree? Give three reasons for your answer • Give three reasons why others might not agree with you.
