  2. Do’s and Don’ts • Do: be entertaining • Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of funny stories that the authorship committee runs into.

Do’s and Don’ts • Don’t: tell horror stories • Not even the one about the person who had been on the experiment for five years, but had never been proposed for authorship, UNTIL he HAD to be added in two days before a paper was submitted. (Got him added too! For that paper and later as a full author.) • Nor the one about the student who was about to get his PhD, had done only a few shifts and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t yet an author. • Or the one about the above student’s adviser who couldn’t figure it out either.

  8. Authors – Run 2 • First Authorship list had408 authors from 62 institutions • At it’s peak: 582 authors from 82 institutions • Total of 815 people from 83 institutions have been on the Run 2 papers as of today.

  9. Authors - total • As of today there have been 1159 separate authors listed on 200 D0 papers. • We are adding new people, and others are retiring continuously.
