  6. Responsible Thinking Process • If you are disrupting a class you may be asked to go to the RTR (Mr. Popham’s Room Rm.353) • You have 2 choices! • Make GOOD choices.

  7. School Schedule • Starts at 7:50 am • 2 Lunch Periods • “A” Lunch 10:50 to 11:20 • “B” Lunch 11:50 to 12:20 • Ends at 2:20 pm

  8. Parking • Official parking sticker • North and south parking lots only • Parking not permissible in: • Fire lanes • Visitor spaces • Road by the stadium • Faculty spaces • Violations may result in towing/boot or loss of parking privilege • Must sign parking agreement

  9. Driving • On campus speed limit is 15 mph • West St. speed limit is 25 mph • FPD patrols this area. Please be careful. Killip Elementary School is located on 6th Ave.

  10. Attendance Policy • Parent/guardian must call • No later than 9:00 a.m. • Not verified will be unexcused • Cannot be excused later • Note will be accepted before 7:45 am the day of return

  11. Attendance Policy • Attendance marks include an absence and a tardy (excused and unexcused)! • Excused absences can include bereavement, chronic illness, medical/illness, and religious holidays • Work cannot be made up for unexcused attendance marks!

  12. Attendance Policy • At 3 accrued attendance marks a postcard will be sent home by the classroom teacher. • Letters sent home on attendance mark 4, 6 and 12. • A conference/parent phone meeting will be held at attendance mark 6. • The student is on attendance probation once they have 12 attendance marks total per semester. • Appeals committee process discussion

  13. Make-Up Work • Unexcused absences – may not receive any points • Excused absences – can make up missed work • One day for each day missed to turn in work • Work will be sent within the • first 2 days of suspension

  14. Attendance Policy • For athletes that receive unexcused attendance marks the day of practice or game WILL NOT be able to participate or play. • Attendance for Friday counts for Saturday events.

  15. Attendance Probation In accordance with district and state attendance policies, students will be placed on attendance probation if they have excessive attendance marks (12 or more for high school)in one or more classes per semester. Students who are placed on attendance probation must attend class, file an appeal and make academic progress the remainder of the semester. An attendance mark includes a class absence or a tardy!

  16. Tardy Policy • Please be in room when the bell rings. • Please be in your seat ready to begin classwork. • A tardy is defined as being late to class less than 5 minutes • Absent – if a student comes to class after 5 minutes • A tardy counts as one of 12 attendance marks.

  17. Campus Security • Enter building at all entrances prior to first bell to start the school day. • After late bell please enter through main entrance on Izabel St. only.

  20. Substitute Teachers • Same respect and courtesy as regular teachers • Patience, understanding and cooperation • Asked to take over in the middle of a lesson • May not have all the preparation needed

  21. Honesty and Integrity • Dishonesty and cheating will be taken seriously • Violations will be handled on an individual basis • May result in discipline and failure of the class • Plagiarism is cheating

  22. Nurse’s Office • Schedule is posted in office and nurse’s door • First aid is given at school • Parents/guardians will be contacted for emergencies • Register all medications (including over-the-counter)

  23. Nurse’s Office • Need a pass • May go home if necessary • Go to the nurse if ill • Prolonged restroom stays = Ditching • Leaving campus without school and parental permission = Truancy

  24. Guest Passes • No student visitors allowed • No guest passes issued

  25. Personal Property • Not responsible for personal property on school premises • Do not bring valuables to school • Not responsible for vehicles on campus

  26. Lockers • Assigned locker and lock • Use lock issued by school • Do not keep valuables in lockers • Valuables may be stored in the school safe • $5 fee for lost locks • Lockers may be searched at any time

  27. Dances • 8:00 until 11:00 p.m.- High School • Disrespectful/inappropriate dancing not allowed • Clothes worn depends upon the kind of dance • Must have I.D. card • If you leave you cannot return to a dance

  28. Dances • Non-CHS guest requires Administration approval • Not issued at the door on the night of the dance • Use of all illegal substances at a school dance will lead to arrest/ disciplinary action

  29. Computer Usage • Must observe rules of usage • Receive permission from teacher to use computer • Sign a contract/agreement before using the computer (Must log-in each use and have current student ID) • 3.Not load or download any programs without clearance

  30. Computer Usage 4.Used for educational purposes only 5.Damage done will be considered "Destruction of School Property” 6.Appropriate etiquette, language, and judgment per Acceptable Use Agreement

  31. Computer Usage 7.Any misuse of computers will be referred for disciplinary action 8.Lose privileges to use any computer 9.DO NOT give out passwords!

  32. Substance Abuse • Drug abuse is non- medical use (including alcohol and inhalants) • All tobacco products • Possession of illegal substances or drug paraphernalia • Under influence of drugs or alcohol

  33. Substance Abuse • Arrested by the Flagstaff Police Dept. • Charged with a felony • Go to juvenile detention or jail • 1st offense - 10 day suspension • 2nd offense - hearing to determine long term suspension or expulsion

  34. Conduct on Busses • Privilege, not a right • Abuse it, lose it • Directly responsible to the bus driver • Disorderly conduct will be reported • Conference with parent/ guardian

  35. Conduct on Busses • Assurance that student will conform • Continuing problem will result in suspension of bus privileges for a time • Misbehavior will not be tolerated

  36. Conduct on Busses • Bus rules: • Remain seated • Keep head and arms inside the bus • Walk in front of the bus when crossing the street

  37. Conduct on Busses 4.Remain quiet so that driver can be heard 5.No profane language 6.Treat the bus driver with courtesy

  38. Dress Code • Not cause educational disruption • Applies to all students • Required for all school sponsored events • No gang relationship dress • No inappropriate items for school or items considered to be offensive to others

  39. Dress Code • Medallions, medals, chains, or beads cannot extend below the belt • No clothing that presents safety hazards • Head coverings not allowed in the building

  40. Dress Code • Pants/shirts/skirts must be worn at the waistline • No large holes in clothing • Clothes length and slits above mid-thigh range are inappropriate • No visible undergarments

  41. Dress Code • Religious head coverings may be worn with approval • No sunglasses on in the school building. Put them away • Footwear must be worn at all times

  42. Dress Code • Shirts must have an appropriate neckline • No cleavage showing • Shirt must have an appropriate length and be able to be tucked in

  43. Dress Code • No bare midriff of any kind is acceptable • Shoulders, abdomen, back, and sides must be covered • Straps over the shoulder must be at least the width of the I.D. card

  44. Electronic Devices • Not responsible for loss, theft, or damage • Put in the OFF position and not in view, unless instructed by the teacher for use in class activities.

  45. Electronic Devices • Will be confiscated by teacher and given to the administration if used inappropriately. • Must be picked up from an administrator by a parent/guardian on 2nd offense. • May be used before school, passing periods, at lunch, after school and unless otherwise directed by classroom teacher.

  46. School ID’S and Lanyards • All Students need to wear their lanyard and ID card at all times during school. • Exceptions: PE, Shop classes and any class where there is risk to student of being choked or caught in machinery • Defacing your lanyard/ID card is NOT allowed! • Must buy a new one to replace them immediately. Cost is $10 per replacement.

  47. Dangerous Weapons • Firearms, explosive weapons, knifes, or any other dangerous or illegal instruments prohibited • Suspension for a period of not less than one year or expelled

  48. Prohibited Harassment • Campus will be free of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, and sexual harassment

  49. Prohibited Harassment • Avoid offensive or inappropriate sexual and/or sexually harassing behavior • Report harassment experiences

  50. Prohibited Harassment • Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other visual, verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature • Prompt and equitable resolution of sexual harassment complaints
