  1. Analysis of Hydrogen Peroxide(redox titration) • Part I: Standardization of KMnO4 • Part II: Use the KMnO4 to titrate H2O2

  2. The “Redox Titration in Acidic Medium” is animated at the following website: http://group.chem.iastate.edu/Greenbowe/sections/projectfolder/flashfiles/redoxNew/redox.html

  3. The “Redox Titration in Acidic Medium” is animated at the following website: http://group.chem.iastate.edu/Greenbowe/sections/projectfolder/flashfiles/redoxNew/redox.html

  4. Standardizing Potassium Permanganate Solution • Analyze the Results. (Answer these questions in your lab notebook) • Calculate the moles of KMnO4 solution needed to react with all of the 0.100 M Fe(NH4)2(SO4)2 solution for each trial. • Calculate the molarity of the KMnO4 for each trial. • Calculate the average molarity of the KMnO4 solution.

  5. Determine the Percent Hydrogen Peroxide (Don’t forget your data table) • Argumentation and Documentation • Are your average values higher or lower than the reported values of the H2O2 you tested? • What are the likely causes of any error? Justify your explanations. Be sure to discuss any data values that are outliers. • Conclusion (1-2 sentences)
