  2. Working Group meeting at NCEAS- Main Updates/Meeting Highlights: • Modeling domains • Defined for 4 sites. Lorrie and Alan will share boundaries of 20x20 areas (1 each for Sierra Low and High (SJER and TK) and 1 for Tehachapi sites (Tejon Low and High)) • Meeting in 6 months • Face to face meeting in 6 months (October) to be organized by Helen, Janet, Alan and Lorrie- will be a run-through taking climate modeling output and running an SDM • To take place in/around NCEAS, with possible field trip to Tehachapi sites • Thus.... Priority for any current study efforts should be on Tehachapi sites • Soil moisture sensors and soil temperature • Soil moisture and temp sensors to be installed at all experimental gardens to record at hourly intervals– ORDERED AND WILL BE INSTALLED DURING SITE VISITS • Weather stations will be installed at all Sierra High (TK) gardens this summer • Deriving summary variables from field microclimate data • UCSB will work on this with advice from Kelly • Meta-analysis or review paper about seedling establishment and microclimate • UCSB taking the lead on this- WILL FOCUS ON MEDITERRANEAN CA • Mapping of adult trees and seedlings/saplings at field sites by UCSB crew • Per seedling vs. adult niche discussion • Microclimate sensors are at 5cm, not 10cm. (confirmed, 5cm, as originally planned) • Gardens will be weed-whacked– SIERRA FOOTHILL (SAN JOAQUIN) HAS BEEN DONE • Possible LANDIS model run for Tejon using spatial data already gathered by Bren Master’s group project • Data access via FTP to be set up at UCSB (m2m.eri.ucsb.edu) • For now, microclimate data area will be read-only for most of the team • Database structure contains areas for all groups to store data, images, etc. • Questions: Mike Colee
