  5. Organ 2 or more types of tissue that work together to perform a function.

  7. Cellular Respiration Process in whichcells use oxygen to release energy stored in sugars.

  8. Stimulus Something that produces a response from an organism.

  9. Behavior An organisms action in response to a stimulus.

  10. Adaptation Characteristic, behavior, or inherited trait. Makes a species able to survive in a particular environment.

  11. Characteristic Trait. Attribute. Distinguishing feature.

  12. Structure The framework of something; How it is put together.

  13. Function The natural action of something; How it works.

  14. Invertebrate An animal that does not have a backbone.

  15. Vertebrate Animal that has a backbone.

  16. Exoskeleton A strong outer covering made of chitin. Protects cells, tissues and organs. Some invertebrates have them.

  17. Endoskeleton Internal support system. Grows as the animal grows. Vertebrates have them.

  18. Ectotherm Animals whose bodytemperature changes with the environment. (Cold blooded.)

  19. Endotherm Animals that maintain a constantbodytemperature. (Warm blooded.)
