  4. Purpose of Senior Parent College Application Night • Assist you and your senior with the application process. • Discuss application procedures, transcript requests and letters of recommendation.

  5. APPLICATION PROCEDURES Applying Online • Apply either through the college website or Common Application website (commonapp.org) • If college accepts the Common App and also has its own online application, seniors must use the common app for us to be able to send electronic documents. • Send SAT/ACT scores directly from testing agency.

  6. Items to be sent from CherokeeTRANSCRIPTS • Complete a transcript request form for each transcript needed. • Available in both Counseling Centers and on Counseling Center website. • After all steps are complete, • give to the registrar: • Mrs. Prickett (north) or • Mrs. Kosienski (south).

  7. Items to be mailed from Cherokee Continued Note: we MUST have a transcript release form on record, or the transcript can not be sent.

Items to be sent from CherokeeTeacher Recommendations If required: • Ask two teachers in person • Use recommendation form for teachers- available in the Counseling Center and on the website. • Put teacher recommendation request in Naviance • Give at least 3 weeks notice • Check Naviance to see when letters have been completed • Note - Once uploaded, you will not be able to read teacher recommendations

Teacher Recommendations in Naviance • Click on Colleges • Click on Colleges I’m Applying To • Click on Add/Cancel Requests • Select teacher’s name from drop down box • Click Update Requests • Check Naviance to see when letters have been completed. • You MUST tell teachers if you need the Common App “Teacher Evaluation” forms completed.

Items to be sent from CherokeeCounselor Letter of Recommendation • Use the same procedure for teacher recommendation via Naviance. • Please be sure to fill out the counselor form for letter of recommendation found in the ABOUT ME tab in Naviance. • Indicate on the transcript request form that a letter of recommendation is needed.

  12. DEADLINES Please leave at least 2 weeks for the recommendation and transcript request to be processed. • November 15 for all December 1 deadlines • December 2 for mailings before Winter Break We CANNOT honor same day requests for transcripts.

  14. Mid-year reports & final transcripts • Submit a mid-year transcript request form for any school requiring mid-year grades. • Forms will be available to students in the 2nd marking period • In June– students must report to the appropriate registrar which college they will be attending.

F.A.Q Remember, you can take advantage of your four free score reports when you register for the SAT! • SAT scores are processed as quickly as possible after the test and are sent automatically to you and your chosen colleges and scholarship programs. Within nine days of taking the test, you will be able to add, change or remove a college or a scholarship program from your score report. If you want to order more than four score reports, or send score reports more than nine days after the test, it will cost $11.25 for each report. For more info, visit www.collegeboard.com
