Scottish Waste Regulations (2012) • Local authorities to provide a basic recycling service to all households by 1 January 2014 • Recycling targets: • 50% by 2015 • 60% by 2020 • 70% by 2025 • Local Authorities to offer a food waste recycling service in non-rural areas from 1 January 2016 • A ban on municipal biodegradable waste going to landfill by 1 January 2021

Aberdeen 2013 - 2025. • Food waste collection is rolling out now; complete by 2015 • Mixed Recycling service introduced by late 2014 • In-vessel composter by 2016/2017 • Energy from Waste by 2020-2025 • Currently scoping site locations; preference to councillors by December • Branding options for the Project to Councillors in October • £30m funding approved from Aberdeen City Council as of Oct 2013. • Bringing us very much on track to meet the Waste Regulations and deliver much needed resources to Aberdeen.

  18. Trade Waste - Industrial and Commercial waste • Regulations put a ‘Duty of Care’ on anybody involved in production or management of waste • Producer responsibility – ensure the waste you produce is disposed of appropriately • Records • Reduce environmental impacts
