  1. Analytical Support for Engineers JtD Workshop February 2018

  2. Overview • Consulted Senior Road Safety Engineer who made a number of suggestions. • Grouped into following categories: • Reports • Emerging trends • Communications • Route analysis and cluster analysis NOT covered here as these are core engineer tasks (in Essex at least!)

  3. Reports • All analytical reports “no matter how small” • Detailed analysis of user group/ area/ problem profile. • District profile summary, including emerging any trends and similar authority comparison. • Ad-hoc graphs & data briefings etc.

  4. Emerging Trends • Spreadsheet showing month by month data for local authorities for changes in casualty types. • Observations from collision validation staff (e.g. noticing multiple collisions at a given location over a short period of time). • Initial notifications of a KSI from Police. When is a trend not a trend?

  5. Communications • Overall headline figures (Power BI). • Validation backlog and understanding the data. • Help dealing with data requests. • “This is the most dangerous road in Britain, what are you going to do about it?” ~ compare national data for rates per vehicle mile by road type.

  6. Power BI

  7. Small Changes Save Lives SERP’s vision is to reduce death and serious injury due to road traffic collisions in Essex to zero. The partnership cannot do this alone, every road user plays a part in making sure that everyone gets home safely.  A small change in everyone’s road user behaviour could have a huge impact on casualty numbers. Please go towww.saferessexroads.organd sign up to the #smallchanges pledge.
