  4. Coco Chanel • Real Name: Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel • Adopted the name Coco during a brief career as a cafe and concert singer from 1905- 1908 • Mother died when she was six, leaving her father with five other children whom he promptly abanded to the care of relatives

  5. Coco Chanel • Coco was known for replacing the corset with comfort and casual elegance • Started her empire while she was working in New Jersey
