Geography and Climate • Location: The temperate deciduous forest is located in the eastern half of North America, the middle of Europe and Asia. • Description: In the mountains it’s colder and has more humidity. • Soil Type: The soil very fertile and enriched. • Precipitation: the area gets two to five feet per year. • Temperature Range: Roughly 75 degrees F. It gets as high as 86 degrees F.

  3. Geography and Climate(continued) • Climate : Mix of temperature & precipitation 14” of rain in winter 18” in summer.

  4. Biodiversity • Plant Species: leaves, bark, buds, twigs, fruit, salt, roots, berries. • Animal Species: Dhole, Porcupine, Red Fox, Beaver, Muskrat.

  5. Adaptations • Plants: Trees shed leaves, Trees cut off water supply to the leaves and stems. Winter is too cold to keep leaves from freezing. • Animals: Able to cope with cold winters when food is in short supply. Animals migrate and hibernate.

  6. Interactions • Biotic: Ant, Bald Eagle, Beaver, Black Bear, Brown Bear, Grass. • Abiotic : Water, Soil, and Waste. • All animals need the water and the soil. They need soil so plants can grow then they could eat it. The waste helps with the soil.
