UPDATES AND INITIATIVES IHL DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION TASK FORCE The Developmental Education Task Force will: • Review the current state of all aspects of developmental education, • Construct a comprehensive plan for improving developmental education in the IHL system, & • Work toward greater collaboration with CJCs & the MS Department of Education.

UPDATES AND INITIATIVES IHL DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION TASK FORCE • 16 member task force composed of administrators, faculty, financial aid, student affairs, CJC representation, etc. • Four sub-committees focusing on: - Preparation - Policy and Procedures - Practices and Programs - Public Relations

UPDATES AND INITIATIVES Lumina Making Opportunity AffordablePLANNING GRANT • Designed to produce higher post-secondary completion rates at a lower cost • Developing 3-5 pilot implementations of redesigned developmental math courses • Using The National Center for AcademicTransformation models of course redesign • Fosters greater student success while lowering costs

UPDATES AND INITIATIVES IHL HIGH SCHOOL FEEDBACK REPORT • Developed collaboratively with MDE, superintendents, principals, & other stakeholders • Informs both IHL universities and high schools about student and program performance • Shared with principals and superintendents state-wide in both public and private schools • Assigned campus liaisons to assist high schools • Distributed annually during the spring

UPDATES AND INITIATIVES COLLEGE READINESS • Competencies in Math and English collaboratively developed and validated by IHLs, CJCs, and P-12 representatives • Taskforces have begun work on development of competencies for Biology and U.S. History • Presentations: • 2008 Mega Conference, • ACT College ReadinessSummit (March) • Mathematics Education Symposium (May-09)
