This gives each an edge over the other, and although their applications are approximately similar, their mechanisms vary my good measures. Nevertheless, today we will talk about the key features of a load cell. The features of a load cell are metrological and nominal in nature. This article will focus on the nominal characteristics of load cells. They overlap kinds like compression load cell, S-type and many others. So, without further ado, let’s get directly into the details. Sensitivity Technically, the sensitivity of a load cell is the mathematical ration that exists between the released and received voltage. Sensitivity is determined by the ratio in nominal force. The unit in which it is expressed is mv/V. The measurements expressed represents that highest value of strain that is put to the test device. If the system reads a lower sensitivity, then the strain level is weak. This means that the metrological characteristics of the load cell are going to be retained better. Applied Force The minimal applied force equals a load cell’s normal use. Any variation within the range of 10% does not make a perceivable effect on the calibration validity. On the other end is the maximum applied force which is the optimum force applicable to a load cell without changing its calibration or capacity. However, most load cell manufacturers in Ahmedabad do not guarantee conservation of the property of calibration at its force. So if you decide to stretch to this point, it would be at your risk. However, most operators using the best reviewed load cells say that making such exceptions every once in a while does not permanently reflect on the calibration of a load cell. Thermal Sensitivity Like the other agents of environment, temperature too affects the chief constituents of a load cell. The first thing that changes with temperature is the elasticity of the test specimen. For steel, the variation is approximately 0.1% for every degree of temperature difference. In other cases, the temperature alters the electric resistance of the systems. However, there are ways to immunize your system against the temperature, in that the effects can be reduced reasonably, if not make them resistant. For most systems, the effect can be diminished by a factor of over 5. But please be informed that such compensations are possible only when operating within a particular temperature range. So, before trying to make any changes, one must consider the temperature changes that normally take place in a certain environment. Please be informed that every load cell is different in ways major or minor. Between manufacturers, materials to method, everything vary, only if moderately. So, the measurements that you see in this article might not be exactly the same with the one you are using, but the characteristics discussed here are universal. Every load cell from a Weighbridge load cell to S-type has these properties.
