  2. > General Schedule (The Road to a DataThon):> Feb 2014:> Interview and selection of organization. > Pick target date for DataThon> Mar 2014:> Opportunity analysis and requirements gathering.> Confirm target date.> Apr 2014: > Data cleanup > Data Do-Gooder skills catalog> Tool selection& acquisition> May 2014:> Final sign-up & logistics> Server and tool setup> DataThon!!>|

  3. > What Happens at a DataThon?> Friday Night:> Registration> Presentation by recipient organization(s) > Group formation> Evening Social> Saturday (to Sunday):> Group meet in the morning at breakfast.> Division of work / adjust groups. > Build and Analyze!> Side sessions> Sunday (Morning to early afternoon): > Last minute touch-ups.> Review of weekend accomplishments.> Wrap up Lunch>|

Is a week-long event during Canadian Environment Week (June 1–7, 2014) • Is a friendly competition between Canadian cities and workplaces • Encourages Canadians to leave their cars at home • Rewards walking, cycling, carpooling/ride-sharing, taking transit and telecommuting • Celebrates active and sustainable transportation • Is nationally hosted by Sustainable Alberta Association • Is locally hosted by City Coordinators who support workplaces Organization Selection Update – Spring 2014 DataThon • Opportunity Analysis (Mar 2014): • Commuter Data Analysis • Data visualization & Dashboarding • Data cleanup and organization to support future plans and analysis • Possible DataThon Activities: • Software development • Data visualization • Map/spatial analysis • Data entity analysis & reorganization.
