  2. Container Recycling 2013 - 1 • Target 2012 achieved - 1.62MT but • Stocks depleted • Fraud removed from system • Glass availability flat • Very low carryover into 2013 • PERN system delay introduced in 2013 • Can 2013 target be achieved?

Container Recycling 2013 - 2 • PRN values reached £75 in 2012 and averaged around £40 • PRN split into Remelt and Other in 2013 with separate targets • Total Target 1.583M • Remelt Target = 63% = 997KT • Other Target (Max) = 37% = 586KT • Q1 Results low 265K / 72K indicating targets might not be met • New entrants to Aggregate market • Other target likely to be reached • Remelt will be a stretch • PRN prices high and gently rising

Container Recycling 2013 - 4 • Other issues • End Of Waste – June 2013 • Incinerator Bottom Ash – recycling or recovery – Judgement due July 2013 • Lead • Co-mingled collection • Crushers and exporters • EA focus on export quality and raising of PERNs combined and lobbying from glass manufacturers

Plate Glass Recycling 2013 - 1 • Plate market changing • Biggest issue – security of supply • Less Grade A, less glass generally • Customers changing – more bead and container, less fibre • Fibre manufacturers fighting in tight market • Haulage and collection infrastructure costs leading to more local disposal to aggregate • Very little post-consumer construction recycling
