  3. Pecan Lakes as a Internship Destination • Pecan Lakes is a wonderful public golf course, with many practice facilities. It is a site where you will learn and have hands on experience into the golf industry. The working atmosphere is professional and at the same time laid back. I highly recommend Pecan Lakes to anyone who is looking to take a path in the golf industry. Rank: *****

  6. Internship Objectives • To gain knowledge on how to run a golf course inside and out • Learn and manage the different computer systems that are used to manage course operations • Learn how to be able to setup and manage numerous different types of golf tournaments and events

  7. Daily Activities • Open and/or close the pro shop daily • Book tee times and tournaments • Take point of sale transactions • Assist the customer in any way to make their experience enjoyable and memorable • Teach golf lessons • Set up and run golf tournaments

  8. Project Description • My project was the SuddenLink Summer Shootout • Nine hole, blind draw, best ball tournament. 5:30 Tuesday evenings • I setup the course and sponsor signs. I paired the golfers and then entered information into our scoring software. • I got to work one on one with SuddenLink on advertising and marketing ideas • We started with sixteen golfers my first event, and now we average between 36 to 40 golfers each week • It was a great opportunity and learning experience to have total control of this event
