Department Missions Department of Natural Resources The Department of Natural Resources is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the State's natural resources for current and future generations. Department of Environmental Quality The Department of Environmental Quality protects and enhances Michigan’s environment and public health on behalf of the people of the Great Lakes State for an improved quality of life and a sustainable future. Department of Agriculture The Department of Agricultures serves, promotes and protects the food, agricultural, environmental and economic interests of the people of Michigan.

What we do… • Improve habitat • Protect air and water quality • Preserve farmland • Monitor and research diseases • Promote agricultural products • Regulate hazardous materials • Stock fish • Ensure food safety • Regulate solid waste disposal • Maintain public recreation land • Protect the Great Lakes • Administer consumer quality measures • Provide recreation trails • Provide camping • Enforce laws • Manage timber

Economic impacts • $4.5 billion hunting, fish, non-consumptive users • Agri-food system $60.1 billion and 1 million jobs • Parks visitors contributed $500 million • Air quality (fine particles standard) saves between $9 billion and $76 billion in health benefits nationwide • Air quality (Clean Air Interstate Rule) saves between $85 and $100 billion in health care savings nationwide • $3 billion in boating and snowmobiling

Economic impacts (cont.) • State forest products and recreation contribute $12 billion and 200,000 jobs • $3 billion in boating and snowmobiling • Agri-food infrastructure investments total $6.8 billion over last five years • $19 million in Brownfield grants leveraging $500 million in private investments and 3,400 jobs • $500 million in cleanup of state sites and infrastructure improvements and 3,800 jobs
