  4. Konsep PPS sampling adalah prosedur penarikan sampel dimana peluang terpilihnya suatu unit sampel sebanding dengan ukurannya (ukuran yang dimaksud adalah informasi tambahan yang dipertimbangkan sebagai dasar penarikan sampel).

Prosedur penarikan sampel • Metode Kumulatif Misal sampel berukuran n dipilih dari populasi yang berukuran N secara PPS-WR dengan Xi sebagai ukuran unit ke-i, dengan tahapan penarikan sampel sebagai berikut: • Buat kumulatif size. • Bangkitkan angka random (Rk) yang besarnya antara 1 sampai X. • Jika maka unit ke-k terpilih sebagai sampel. • Ulangi langkah ke (2) hingga mendapatkan n unit sampel.

Prosedur penarikan sampel Metode lahiri tidak membutuhkan jumlah kumulatif dari ukuran unit sampling di dalam populasi, dengan tahapan sebagai berikut: • Bangkitkan 2 angka random *Ri(1) yang besarnya 1-N *Ri(2) yang besarnya 1-Xmaks (2) jika Ri(2) ≤ Xi maka unit ke-i terpilih sebagai sampel. (3) Ulangi hingga mendapatkan n unit sampel
