SAT I, SAT Subject and ACT • SAT I-Reasoning Test-Three parts: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing www.collegeboard.com • SAT Subject tests-one hour-subject: biology, French, History, math, etc. www.collegeboard.com • ACT-alternate option to the SAT-Consists of four multiple-choice tests: English, Reading, Math and Science; optional writing test but is not part of composite score; possible score of 36 www.act.org

How to use the Naviance Website • You must have internet access in order to use this site. • Go to rbrhs.org and click “Naviance” under “Quicklinks” • Explore colleges • Track college applications and data • Complete the self-assessment and resume • Search for scholarships • Sign up for college visits • Not sure what to major in in college? • Take the Career Interest Profiler

  8. Extracurricular Activities • Clubs • Sports • Religious/volunteer/community service groups • Leadership positions are a bonus!

  11. Explore College Options • Complete the College Super Match or the College Search on Naviance • Save your search • Add schools of interest to your prospective college list • Schedule a meeting with your counselor to discuss your college list Identify Safety, Target and Reach schools

Things to Consider • Is there an Honors Program? • Visit a dormitory and/or friend • Sample the dining hall food • Talk about tuition and financial aid • Ask about the freshman retention and 4-5 year graduation rate • Double check entrance requirements for admission-Am I suited for this school academically?

  13. Campus Visitations • Research college/university • Schedule a tour with their admissions office • Meet admissions counselors • Consider sitting in on a class (if possible) • Talk to a professor or student from the department of the major in which you are interested
