Profile of the Republic of Serbia – Basic Facts • Area: 88.361 km² • Population: 7,5 million (excluding Kosovo and Methohia) • Nationality: Serbs • Ethnic Groups: Serbs (82.86%), Bosnjaks (1.82%), Romes (1.44%), Yugoslavs (1.08%), Croats (0.94%), Montenegrians (0.92%), Albanians (0.82%), Slovakians (0.74%), etc. • Employed: 1.850.000 • Capital: Belgrade (1.576.124 inhabitants) • Other major cities: Novi Sad (179.625), Niš (175.391), Kragujevac (147.305), Subotica (100.386) • National Currency: 1 dinar = 100 para, 1 EUR =cca.80,51 dinars, 1 USD=cca.61,3363 dinars (March, 2005) ELITEX 2005 - ICT sector in Serbia

Serbian Chamber of Commerce • Serbian Chamber of Commerce is interest-based, independent and business-professional organization of enterprises, entrepreneurs and other types of organizations performing economic activities on the territory of Serbia, linked by common interest. • Following the examples of the EU countries, adopting the Euro-continental model and respecting our own tradition, the work of all chambers and commerce in Serbia is regulated in a modern manner, in accordance with the Law on Chamber’s of Commerce adopted on November 21, 2001. ICT Association in Serbian Chamber of Commerce • The ICT association currently consists of more than 2000 corporate members. • The IT Association plays an active role in contributing the age of the information society. • Through its operating activities the ICT sector has become better recognized, and therefore substantially influences the preparation for legislation, which will govern the IT market. • Cooperate with government bodies and institutions, as well as with other associations in the ICT field.
