  4. Interrogation • Isn't there a better way to examine? • When we examine it’s because we want the truth, not what we want to hear • If your method of interrogation results in false information, which you require to make a course of action on, you’ll be making a bad decision • Parents, especially of teenagers, watch this (Don’t provoke)

  5. Acts 22:25-29 • Paul is a Roman Citizen • “Is it lawful…?” • He knows it isn’t • Three ways to Roman citizenship • Born • Decree • Bought • Binding or striking an un-condemned citizen is a serious offense • Partiality- God don’t like it

  9. Conscience “While conscience is something to which we can and should listen, it is not an infallible guide to right conduct. Conscience will tell you that you should not do what is wrong and that you should do what is right, but conscience alone cannot tell you what is right or what is wrong. It is only the Bible, the written Word of God, that can teach you that. When you have the Bible and the Holy Spirit is shining on its pages teaching you what you should do, then conscience will tell you that you ought to do it. But if you do not have the Word of God, then even if conscience will tell you to do the right thing, you will not know what the right thing is and err, as Paul had done.” Boice

  10. Acts 23:2-3 • Ananias orders him struck on the mouth • Paul is accused of: • Violating the temple with Gentiles • Proclaiming salvation of faith in Jesus without conversion • And claiming it’s all with a clean conscience • Paul’s response… • “Whitewashed wall” is clean on the outside but filthy and crumbling on inside • Judge according to the law • But actions Contrary to the law

  11. Acts 23:4-5 • “Revile God’s High Priest?” • Ananias is not God’s High Priest • Regardless Paul responds humbly • We’re all human • Be humble when called out. Right is right, even when wronged • “You shall not speak evil of a ruler” • Exodus 22:28 • Rom 13:1 • 1Tim 5:19

  12. Acts 23:6-9 • Paul plays the Pharisee card • “concerning the resurrection of the dead”? • Paul gets them to show the Romans their true motives • Wise as serpents Matt 10:16 • Sadducees & Pharisees • Sadducees run the temple • Hold only to Talmud • Pharisees teach the law • Hold to Talmud and oral law • Believe in resurrection
