  2. Submarine A submarine is a watercraft capable of independent operation underwater. It differs from a submersible, which has more limited underwater capability. The term submarine most commonly refers to a large crewed autonomous vessel.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Submarine

  3. Who developed it? When? Why? Cornelius Drebbel developed submarines. Submarines were developed to destroy enemy ships in wars. The submarines were invented in 1864. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_invented_the_submarine

  4. Who used it in world war 1 The German navy used the submarines during world war 1. http://history-world.org/world_war_i_and_the_submarine.htm

  5. What did it do? • German submarines sank an enormous amount of British, Commonwealth and also sank some neutral ships. http://history-world.org/world_war_i_and_the_submarine.htm

  6. How was it used? As with any other warship, submarines were used to attack the ships and other military targets of the enemy. However, submarines had the advantage of stealth and could often avoid detection until they attacked. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_were_submarines_used_in_World_War_1

  7. How deadly was it? Submarines are deadly because they sink 3 British ships in less that 22hours. This caused allies very serious problems and scored incredible victories while suffering their own losses as well. http://www.uboat.net/wwi/

  8. What were the limitations? • Whatever may be the future development of the submarine, it is certain that today it is handicapped by certain inherent limitations of a strategically and tactical character which condemn it to play a secondary and circumscribed role in the broad field of naval warfare. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F20613FA355C13738DDDAE0A94DA415B858DF1D3

  9. Explain how it changed the warfare asit was prior to WWI? It took World War I to prove the worth of submarines. Prior to that time, submarines played only a small role in the plans of fleet commanders, serving primarily only as coastal defense units. http://www.submarinehistory.com/WWI.html
