The Course Organizer Teacher(s): Student: Block: Essential Skills Progression (use PARCC to locate in CCSS) This Course: 7th Grade English Language Arts • Cite several pieces of evidence supporting analysis of explicit text and inferences drawn from text. (R1) • Analyze content such as theme, elements of a story, figurative and connotative meaning, drama or poem’s form, point of view, compare/contrast, word meanings, and word structure. (R2) • Study and apply common grammar conventions and uses during writing or speaking by understanding types of sentences, phrases, clauses, and modifier mistakes. (L) • Acquire and use grade appropriate vocabulary. (L) • Conduct effective, collaborative discussions. Must be prepared, follow discussion rules, pose and response to questions, and acknowledge new information. (SL1) • Present claims and findings, making sure to present points in a clear, focused manner using multimedia components, and adapting speech to context. (W7, 8, 9) • Study and apply by determining clarity and meaning through context, Greek and Latin affixes, seeing reference materials, and figurative language.
