Opportunities To Engage And Nobody Said Anything: Uncomfortable Conversations in the Classroom 1.5 hrs Participate in discussion in response to short vignettes related to critical teaching classroom moments. Understand that each individuals story will contribute to different perspectives and reactions. Recognize a new awareness of unintentional consequences to classroom actions and words. Address the tension between free speech and hate speech. Examine classroom climate related to behavior. Begin to develop strategies and create tools to address the unexpected in the classroom. *Institutes for Healing Racism: 2 day format - CEUs available Engage in an exploration of the origins of the construct of race and racism. Increase critical thinking proficiency regarding contemporary racial, ethnic and cultural issues. Strategize action steps around anti-racism conduct.

    9. Opportunities TO ENGAGE Unintentional Blindness: 1.5 hrs. Identify habits that may be unintentionally unproductive. Explore the affects of how our own histories influence our judgment of others. Recognize micro-inequities in delivering inclusive service. Practice tools to build inclusive environments. Cross Cultural Communication: 1.5 hrs. Recognize possible cultural barriers to successful communication. Be aware of idiomatic language and consequence. Be more accepting without judging others based on what behaviors mean in own culture. Have a better understanding of the difference in communication across cultures which will help better identify and respond to student and/or colleague needs Generational Communication 1.5 hrs Identify and define four generations in the workplace. Understand the formative years of each generation and their core values. Use this information to connect and work effectively across generations. Examine the potential benefits of multi generational workforces.

    10. Opportunities TO ENGAGE Bullying and Harassment 1.5 hrs Recognize possible effects of bullying and other harassment on self, colleagues and students. Understand some prevention policies, actions and methods. Be aware of possible intervention strategies. Approach problematic behavior with critical observation. Be sensitive to the hidden affects of bullying. *SafeZone Training: 5 hr. Explore your own diverse perceptions and identities Hear other world views Interact with scenarios based on situations common to higher education Begin building a foundation for ethical treatment and respect for all human beings.

    11. Opportunities TO ENGAGE Rethinking Body Image 1.5 hrs Recognize the negative effects of contemporary body image. Be aware of media influence. Approach media messages with critical observation. Be sensitive to unintentional judgments based on social norms. Have a better understanding of the difference in body image between and among cultures. Explore tools to combat negative aspects of current body image perceptions. Inclusive Leadership: 1.5 hrs. Define inclusive leadership characteristics. Recognize connection to maximizing operational effectiveness. Examine personal inclusion behaviors. Investigate demonstrable inclusive leadership skills. Address practical application through relevant scenarios.
