  3. THE JOURNEY • The Church is in chaos! “Things ain’t what they used to be!” • Traditional values have gone • Authority is to be questioned • Life is for living…now • Seek the moment • 24/7 culture v traditional view • Credibility gap • Post-Christendom era

  4. THE JOURNEY • What is the church response to all this? • Review • Re-configure • Re-structure What is the result of the three ‘R’s? • More control • Greater internal chaos • No real leadership

  5. THE JOURNEY So… what is needed is LEADERSHIP: ‘providing direction for the journey’ However….let’s start at a different place!

  12. THE JOURNEY Jesus’ ministry was about RELATIONSHIPS Jesus’ ministry was about offering NEW EXPERIENCES Jesus saw people as INDIVIDUALS not as problems Jesus’ method of working was CONVERSATION and IDENTIFICATION

  13. THE JOURNEY TASK: TEAL TRUST Using the scoring sheet, work out your preferred Leadership style type indicator. Share this with a partner or in threes. What surprised you? What challenged you?
