Current and Recent Project Highlights – Uganda • Uganda, 2002 Census – (funded by DFID) • conduct an assessment of the census plans of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics in 2000, • assess the census field operations in 2002, • provide data processing support during 2004, and • demographic analysis workshops in 2005

Current and Recent Project Highlights – Yemen • Yemen, 2004 Census – (funded by USAID) • providing training and technical assistance to the Central Statistical Organization in support of • the census, • statistical capacity building, • decentralization activities, and • address data users’ needs. • This is a three-year project encompassing all aspects of statistical operations (planning, cartography, sampling, data processing, dissemination, and analysis) as well as provision of equipment and software to support statistical activities

Current and Recent Project Highlights – Mozambique • Mozambique, 2007 Census – (funded by USAID & PEPFAR) • Providing technical assistance with many aspects of the census including INCAM, a SAVVY-like (SAmple Vital registration with Verbal autopsY) system designed to follow-up reported deaths in the past 12 months with verbal autopsies (MEASURE Evaluation & U.S. Census Bureau)

  17. Current and Recent IPC Project Highlights – S. Sudan • Southern Sudan, 2007 Census – (S. Sudan project funded by USAID) • Development of a decentralized statistical office in an area emerging from 20 years of civil war that is rebuilding basic infrastructure. • The New Sudan Centre for Statistics and Evaluation (NSCSE) is striving to quickly build capacity and provide badly needed data for political, social, and planning purposes. • IPC to provide support in the development of the NSCSE with the objective of conducting the census in Southern Sudan in 2007, which will be part of the Sudan Census in conjunction with the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) in Khartoum
