  1. Temperatures - The Highs and Lows A presentation of some fun ways to show you more about Temperature Discovery movie

  2. Directions: • You will need your notebook, a pencil, and a thermometer. • You will be placed into groups of 4. Look on the board for your group and go to that place to do the activities.

  3. Discussion: • With your group, discuss the following: What is temperature?

  4. What is a HIGH temperature? • We all know when it is hot, write down a temperature that has been seen in Easton that is known to be HOT,HOT,HOT….

  5. When it is cold, what temperature is it? Write a temperature that you think iscold…..

  6. Farenheit and Celcius Take a look at the thermometers…what do you see? When does F = C? What happens to F when the temperature goes below 0F? What happens to C when F goes below 0F?

  7. Did you know? According to SOME scientists, the Earth is warming - this is called Global Warming. 2005 and 1998 have been tied for the hottest years yet in the Northeast. The causes may be from pollution from power plants and cars.

  8. Figure this one out…. If the Earth is warming at 2F each year, in 2004, the average temperature is 65F what will the temperature be in the year 2005? 2006? 2010? 3011? (Hint: Make a T chart to help)

  9. Let’s Use The Thermometers Using the thermometers: • Find 40F, what is the temperature (about) in C? • Find -20F what is the temperature in C? 3. Find -5F what is the temperature in C?

  10. What about….. • 13C is what temperature in F? • 55C is what temperature in F?

  11. Take it one step further…. In your group, figure out this…. If you flew from Easton and the temperature was 70F and you landed in Snake Canyon, Utah where it was 110F, what is the temperature difference?

  12. Let’s take a look at it….. What did you do? 110F  70F = 40F difference

  13. Journaling Time Write three (3) important things that you learned about temperature in your journals. Also, write a word problem using temperature…
