L’storia della lingua: Key Dates • Bologna, 1922: First edition of Vocabolario della lingua italiana by Nicola Zingarelli was published. • Roma, 1927: Regional radio stations were under direct control from the state – EIAR (Ente Italiano per le Audizioni Radiofoniche) was a public body of Fascist Italy – language control. • Roma, 1928: The first Fascist reading materials were introduced in elementary schools. The text celebrated Leo Longanesi’s motto, “Libro e moschetto, fascista perfetto”. • Roma, 1931: University lecturers were made to swear their loyalty to the Fascist regime by devoting themselves to “formare cittadini attivi e devoti al Paese e al Fascismo”  teaching content and language controlled.
