Programmes in Library Science Certificate for Library Assistants (with HKLA since 1964) • Entry requirement5 passes, including English, at grade E or above in HKCEE, or equivalent • Duration - 9 months • Joint programme with Hong Kong Library Association (HKLA) • Para-professional course for library assistants • Conducted in English & Chinese • Part-time evening classes • Course fee: $7,500 • Commencement date – September 2011

(commissioned by the EDB, HKSAR Govt) • Entry requirementA teacher certificate or equivalent and a minimum of two years teaching experience • (If you want to be sponsored by Education Bureau, you need to meet EDB’s requirements) • Duration 2 years (12 modules) • Provide school librarians with professional knowledge and skills on: • teacher librarianship • analyzing information needs and retrieval skills for teachers and learners • use of information and learning resources according to • curriculum objectives • Course fee: $38,500 • Commencement date – October 2011 Diploma in Teacher Librarianship (Primary or Secondary)

DTL Programme Structure • Year 1 • Teacher Librarianship • Collection Management • Cataloguing and Classification • Reading Culture School • Information Technologies and School Libraries • Year 2 • Information Literacy • Information Sources & Services • Mentorship and Professional Practice • Children Literature or Literature for Young Adults • 3 electives from: • Project Based Learning or Inquiry Learning • Digital Libraries • Advanced Cataloguing and Classifications • Information retrieval

Higher Diploma in Library and Information Management (full-time programme) • Entry requirement • 5 passes in HKCEE (including English and Chinese); and a pass in 1 AL subject or 2 AS subjects in HKALE; • a recognized Pre-Associate Degree / Foundation Programme or equivalent; • A recognized post-secondary certificate or diploma • Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination * Level 2 or above in five subjects including English Language and Chinese Language, or equivalent; • Duration 2years

Programmes in Archives Studies Introduction to Archives Management Duration12 contact hours (8 sessions x 1.5 hours) (with HKAS) Executive Certificate in Archives Management Entry requirementA Bachelor Degree is preferred Duration 60 contact hours (20 sessions X 3 hours) Postgraduate Certificate in Archival Studies Entry requirementA Bachelor Degree, and in the employment of an archival institution, or have archives and records related experience. (with EASTICA) Duration 3 weeks (full-time)

Executive Certificate Programmes Executive Certificate in Digital Library / Information Centre Management Entry requirementA Bachelor Degree is preferred Duration 66 contact hours (22 sessions X 3 hours) Executive Certificate in Knowledge Management Entry requirementA Bachelor Degree is preferred Duration 60 contact hours (20 sessions X 3 hours)

Programme Structure – Bachelor of Information Studies For HDLIM 8 core subjects 1 practical subject 2 elective subjects • For Non HDLIM • 12 core subjects • 3 practical subjects • 10 elective subjects Exemption may be granted to AD or HD graduates, not for Library & Information Science graduates.
