  3. Project Goals • Clarify mission of Iowa Now • Define content strategy • Better serve key audiences • Streamline processes • Rebuild website (and back-end systems)

  4. Iowa Now Mission • Showcase content that best tells the university’s story • Connect with campus audiences and other constituents • Offer one-stop source for news of record • Power distribution channels like emails, feeds, social, etc.

  5. Briefs/Buckets • Splitting Iowa Now content into two groupings: • Feature Stories • Briefs • The creation of “Briefs” will be shared between VPSC staff and our campus communications colleagues.

  6. Briefs/Buckets (cont) • Briefs Categories: • Newsmakers • Achievements • Gifts and Grants • Publications • Events* • Internal Communications for Faculty and Staff • Internal Communications for Students

  7. Briefs/Buckets (cont) • Why Briefs: • Not a lot of traffic for a significant amount of effort • Adding a taxonomy for departments that will allow data feeds for departmental web sites

  8. Feature Stories • Fewer but more complex and impactful stories • Feature stories become their own mini-publications • Single Content Type • Photo Galleries and Videos will be part of the Feature Story content type • Expanding for additional story elements such as Twitter Cards, Interactive Graphics, more robust callouts and pull quotes
