Lean & Green Overview: Month One • Day 1: Get Your Feet Wet • Overview Both Lean and Green Wastes • Project Charter Training and Outline • In Class: Draft Problem Statement and Outline Charter with Players • Homework: Draft Both Pages of Charter and ID Wastes Before Coaching • 1st Coaching Session: Review Charter, Wastes, and Walk the Project’s Process • Post Coaching Homework: • Finalize Charter & Gain Mgmt Buy-in with Signatures • Draft a Very Basic Flow Chart of Your Process is Applicable • Prepare 10 min Progress Briefing

Lean & Green Overview: Month Two • Day 2: Get Your Hands Dirty • Lean and Green Value Stream Mapping (VSM) • Waste measurement and waste auditing • In Class: Start VSM with Process Steps and Draft Data Boxes and Data Sources & Look for Root Cause of Problem Statement • Homework: Draft Current State VSM with Real Data & Sources • 2nd Coaching Session: • Review Charter, Wastes, VSM, Data, and Sources. • ID and Fill in Gaps. • Perform Root Cause Analysis. • Post Coaching Homework: • Re-walk the Process • Validate Measures and Data • Finalize Charter & Prepare 10 min Progress Briefing

Lean & Green Overview: Month Three • Day 3: Get With It • Action Plans with Tie to Corporate Vision, Mission, Goals, and Metrics • Who is Going to do What to Whom by When and How Much • Future State Value Stream Mapping (VSM) • In-Class: • Start Future State VSM with Process Steps, Draft Data Boxes, and Data Sources • Draft Action Plan with Ties to Corporate Strategy, Action Items, Action Officers, Milestones and Metrics • Homework: • Draft Future State VSM with Projected Data and Sources • Draft Action Plan • Draft Final Briefing

  4. Lean & Green Overview: Month Three • 3rd Coaching Session: Review Charter, Wastes, Both VSMs, Data, and Sources. Fill in gaps. Review Action Plan • Post Coaching Homework: • Fill In All the Gaps • Finalize Action Plan: Near Term and Longer Term Action Items • Finalize 20 min Briefing • Practice Briefing by Pre Briefing Some of Mgmt • Prepare Approval and Implementation Documents for Signatures at Final Briefing • Include Back-up Plans

Lean & Green Overview – Month Four Final Presentation • Project Charter • Problem Statement • Team Members • Signatures = Management Buy In • Current State Value Stream Map • Wastes in the Current Process • Future State Value Stream Map • Action Plans Overview to Transition to Future State • Summary – Lessons Learned

Lean & Green Overview – Follow-On Activities • Participate in follow-on interview process • 3 months, 6 months, 12 months following end of class • 15 minutes per interview • Reporting on how implementation of your projects has progressed, developing green business strategies • Conducted by OU E-TEAM (Independent evaluation group) • Lisa White (405-325-4745) This reporting is required to satisfy the Lean Institute’s grant requirements
