    1. Early Viking History: Voluspa Voluspa is the first poem contained in the Codex Regius manuscript of the Poetic Edda, written down around 1270 A.D. The book was discovered in Iceland in the Renaissance and presented to the Danish king in 1643, and only returned to Iceland in the 1960s. It is the only source for most of the poems it contains.
