  1. Myton Smoothie Bar Aims & Objectives

  2. What are Aims & Objectives • Every business has a distinct set of aims and objectives. • Aims: are the long-term visions or goals of a business. • Objectives: are specific, measurable targets to help to achieve the overall aims of the business.

  3. Aims & Objectives • Most people think that businesses only have one aim and objective. Which is? • To make a profit. • In actual fact most businesses have many aims and objectives which may include: • Survival • Profit maximisation • Increase sales • Expansion • To be environmentally friendly

  4. The aims of four different businesses: • A local council – to provide a range of services that enhances the quality of life of the population it serves. • A theme park – to provide a piece of magic to everyone who visits, young or old. • A cancer charity – to raise the awareness of this condition and to provide the support to continue a programme of research and education. • A removals company – to provide customers with a worry-free solution to their house move.

  5. What are the aims of the Smoothie bar? Suggest any key words you think should be integrated into the aim. Aim

  6. Objectives: • To be really useful to a business, objectives should be SMART. This stands for: • Specific – explain exactly what is to be achieved; • Measurable – a form of measurement i.e. % to see what has been achieved; • Achievable – should provide a challenge (to motivate) but should be capable of being delivered; • Realistic – it should be reasonable to expect that the objective can be met by those responsible for it; • Timely/Time-bound – it should have a defined timeline setting out by when it should be achieved.

  7. Example: The Fire Service Aim: To save lives Objectives: Remember they need to be SMART Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely/Time bound A couple of examples of objectives may be – • 98% of all road traffic accidents responded to within 20 minutes • All staff updated on life-saving techniques every 6 months

  8. Mission Statement • A mission statement is a brief statement of the purpose. • Companies sometimes use their mission statement as an advertising slogan, but the intention of a genuine mission statement is to keep members and users aware of the organisation's purpose. • "To enable people and businesses throughout the world to realize their full potential."—Microsoft

  9. The Facts • According to research, the average person in the UK eats less than 3 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, instead of the recommended 5. • Obesity is rising among children. In the past ten years it has doubled in six-year-olds (to 8.5 per cent) and trebled among 15-year-olds (to 15 per cent). • In response to some of the issues highlighted the school canteen is considering opening a Smoothie Bar.

  10. What is a Smoothie?
