  1. 2011 - 2016 Building a New Vision for St Michael’s

  2. Vision St Michael’s will: • Create the Buckinghamshire Centre for Catholic Education • Have outstanding relationshipswith all stakeholders • Be widely known for raising academic standards and achievement • Ensure best value and financial stability • Our ethos will ensure support for the emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth in the whole child • Provideprogressive pathwaysfor both learners and teachers

  3. Create the Buckinghamshire Centre for Catholic Education • We will provide a highly respected and sought after education for Roman Catholic and, other Christian children. It will be the school of choice for all Christian families in High Wycombe and surrounding areas. • We will be the central hub of the Catholic community in High Wycombe and be capable of developing into a single integrated place of worship. • We will play a pivotal role in strengthening and sustaining the Bucks Catholic School Partnership. • We will look to develop logical partnerships within the BCSP. • We will support Catholic education and the development of Catholic educators through links with St Mary’s University College.

  4. Have outstanding relationships with all stakeholders • Our pupils and staff will engage closely with the local community to further the development of the school and its pupils and to ensure the contribution we make is relevant to a changing wider community. • We will continue to encourage positive relations with parents to enable a constructive dialogue ensuring we are all working to develop the full potential of all children. • Community cohesion will be enhanced by encouraging local groups and organisations to use the facilities for sports, recreation, drama, as well as a full range of youth activities and adult education. • We will receive national recognition for the work we do to promote community cohesion.

  5. Be known for raising academic standards and achievement • Through strong and inspirational leadership at all levels our children will be supported throughout their journey and we will ensure the best possible outcomes for them by providing a genuinely personalised, progressive and supported educational experience. • Through the development of links with our Catholic feeder schools cross phase education will strengthen the quality and range of our offer and increase opportunities for all children and teachers. • The school will remain relatively small, maintaining an important and unique characteristic of this school community.

  6. Ensure best value and financial stability • We will look to aggregate resources and remove duplication and overlapping services giving financial benefit to Catholic schools in Buckinghamshire. • We will negotiate better terms for contracts from our suppliers and service providers.

  7. Our ethos will ensure support for the emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth in the whole child • We will work to be better able to identify pupils’ strengths and support their progress and development with greater focus. • We will develop more stimulating extra curricula and extended services to increase engagement and inspire our children. • We will continually look to extend opportunities for all pupils.

  8. Provide progressive pathways for both learners and teachers • We will provide the opportunity for children’s progression to be more clearly signposted as they develop. • We will enable greater levels of progression into higher education through strong and tangible links with partner institutions. • We will enable partnerships that support staff in developing their careers from initial teacher training, to in service training and through to senior leadership. • We will create opportunities, perhaps through specialist skills, that will resonate and engage with our students and support the development of creativity, science & technology and sport. • We will reduce the barriers to learning across all key stages. • We will continue to build tangible links with the business community and provide our pupils with skills for work in the 21st Century.

  9. St Michael’s Catholic School will: Be at the centre of Catholic Education and the wider communities we serve in Buckinghamshire.
