  5. HCAL ACTIVITIES Iowa achieved several major milestones in CMS • HF was 1st CMS detector in the CMS Cavern. • HF+ Commissioned • Air Source Drivers for HB & HE completed and shipped • HF- Commissioned • HF Source Drivers completed and delivered. • HF participated in CRAFT, CRUZET and beam splash. • HF Phase I upgrade R&D and related test beams at FNAL and CERN. • HE Phase II upgrade R&D and related test beams at FNAL and CERN.

  6. New HCAL Organization New Additional Leadership Roles: T.Yetkin HCAL Ops Coordinator I.Schmidt Forward Region TC W.Clarida HCAL ROC Coordinator

  7. Iowa Team At UX5

  8. First splash events from the beam tests 06-Nov-2009 On November 6, 450 GeV protons are injected to LHC and are dumped 150 m. before CMS

  9. Beam Splash events were used to calibrate our detector. HF- first HF+ 100 ns later

  10. Iowa Leadership • Y. Onel: L3 manager for HCAL Photodetectors and SLHC Quartz Plate Calorimeter Phase II Upgrade coordinator, HFPMT and HF Front End Upgrade Coordinator for Phase I. • J. Nachtman: LPC di-jet co-coordinator and the CMS calorimeter trigger upgrade co-coordinator, Performance and Simulation Coordinator for HCAL Phase I Upgrades. • K. Cankocak: (was DPG Data Validation co-coordinator) HCAL Operation Expert, HCAL Coordinator for Calibration Systems. • T. Yetkin: (was DPG Prompt Analysis co-coordinator as well as HCAL ROC co-coordinator) HCAL Operation Expert. • A. Mestvirishvili: HCAL System Operations Support. • I. Schmidt: HF Integration Engineer. • W. Clarida: HCAL ROC coordinator at FNAL.
